QCLNG Gas Gathering Systems

(Dual & single Ø110mm – Ø630mm pipelines)

The gas gathering pipelines on QCLNG consists of an extensive range of diameters, with sequences of Butt Fusion and Electro Fusion welds, mechanical flanged joints, high/low point vents, drains and various welded steel manifolds.

  • Design, procurement, construction management and handover of HDPE Gathering systems (including Lauren, Kate and partial completion of Argyle and Bellevue)
  • Liaison between client engineering, design consultants, procurement and construction contractors
  • Coordination of +100 personnel encompassing Owner’s Team members, Contractors and Consultants
  • Improvements in project documentation review and project kick-off processes
  • Improvements in foreign crossing approvals processes and systems
  • Review pricing submissions and technical documents
  • Facility (Filed Compression Stations) tie-ins
  • Preparing packages for tender.

Northern Trunklines Project

($85million)

The gas trunklines connect the FCS’s to the CPP”s, with water pipelines transporting production water from gas hubs to Water Treatment Plants. Pipeline diameters range from Ø350mm – Ø960mm with midline isolation valves, pig traps and large retention tie-ins. This section of the project also included trenched fibre optic and HV cabling.

  • Design, procurement, construction management and handover of 100km’s of carbon steel trunklines, water pipelines, HV and fibre optic cable enclosures
  • Facility (Central Processing Plant) tie-ins, including Kenya Lateral Export Pipeline Tie-in Project ($5M)
  • Liaison between client engineering, design consultants, procurement and construction contractors
  • Improvements in project documentation review and project kick-off processes
  • Improvements in foreign crossing approvals processes and systems
  • Review pricing submissions and technical documents
  • Preparing packages for tender.

Curtailed Alumina Refinery inspection

Maceng were engaged to support the detailed inspection and HAZMAT survey of a curtailed alumina refinery.  This work included:

  • Preparation of Hazardous Energy Control (HEC) procedures, Access control procedures, and training of personnel and management in the new systems.
  • Undertaking “Safe Access Inspections” to ensure that each plant area was safe for access by other personnel.  This included identification of safe entry and egress points, inspection of flooring, handrails, stairs, overhead structures, loose cladding, potential asbestos, and then ensuring other teams were able to undertake their work safely in the environment.
  • Conducting Level 1 Structural inspections.  Identification of the overall structural soundness and escalating deteriorated or damage structures for deeper analysis.

Gove Refinery Structural & HAZMAT Inspections

Maceng were engaged to undertake detailed safety, structural and contamination surveys of the curtailed refinery.

We utilised the expertise of several long time Gove operations and engineering personnel to identify and document to condition of the curtailed refinery.

VTI Vacuum Vessel Design

Maceng were engaged to conduct Finite Element analysis on a sucker truck vacuum vessel and the chassis mounting skid.

These vessels are complex and are subject to complex loading conditions, transport, and hoisting loads. There is a complex interaction between the requirements of the road vehicle design requirements, crane codes, and pressure vessel design codes.

Maceng continues to provide ongoing support with the development of their product.

Berg Engineering – Vent Vessel Fabrication

Maceng managed the design, procurement and fabrication of a super duplex vent vessel for a nickel refinery.

This necessitated sophisticated manufacturing and welding systems, and close management of all QA documentation.
